Engel says he’s a legitimate candidate

James M. Engel admits he was recruited by Republicans to run in the May 8 Democratic primary for the 23rd District state Senate seat.
But the man challenging former state Rep. Kristen Dexter (D-Eau Claire) takes exception to the term of being a “fake” Democrat.
“I think that I have a legitimate candidacy,” said Engel, who lives in the town of Ludington in Eau Claire County. “This has been building in me for a considerable time.”
